DraftKings launches betting on drone racing
Operator secures exclusive partnership with Drone Racing League to offer niche sport in five states

DraftKings has partnered with the Drone Racing League (DRL) to offer bets on professional drone races in Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Tennessee, and West Virginia.
The deal gives DraftKings exclusive branding rights during DRL tournaments, with fans able to place pre-race and in-race bets via the operator.
As part of the last leg of the league’s 2020 DRL Allianz World Championship, DraftKings will host pre-race shows on Twitter to educate fans on how to place wagers.
DRL races were initially offered to DraftKings users via free-to-play pools last year, attracting up to 150,000 entries.
“DRL is scaling their business as fast as their drone races and we’re excited to be flying with them given DRL’s thrilling, innovative racing events are perfect for the customized wagering offerings we can create,” said Ezra Kucharz, DraftKings chief business officer.
“Our expertise in sports betting combined with DRL’s stat-packed competition will make this a fun and seamless opportunity to engage their avid audience along with tech-savvy, adrenaline-loving sports fans,” he added.
DRL president Rachel Jacobson said: “We’re thrilled to partner with DraftKings to transform our high-speed race competition into the ultimate sport to bet on.
“The opportunity for us to elevate our engagement through all forms of gaming and gambling will only increase as mobile betting becomes more adopted across the country,” she added.
Additional states are in the process of legalizing drone betting.
