DraftKings launches DFS in Iowa
Operator is the first to launch fantasy games in the states since being made legal in August

DraftKings has launched DFS in Iowa three months after the vertical was legalized as part of the state’s betting laws.
Players will have access to new DraftKings game variants such as showdown contests, which require users to stay under a designated salary cap when drafting a team from a single game or round.
DraftKings, FanDuel and Yahoo! Sports were the first operators to apply for fantasy licenses in the summer, with DraftKings the first to switch on its offering.
Brian Ohorilko of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission told local news outlets the state’s launch had been delayed by certain technical requirements.
Matt Kalish, chief revenue officer and co-founder at DraftKings said: “We are excited to offer Iowans our daily fantasy products, featuring the largest prize pools you’ll find anywhere in the world.
“In time for the Week 8 games of NFL season and NBA tipoff, DraftKings is thrilled to show The Hawkeye State why we have been able to establish ourselves as a premier destination for sports fans who want skin in the game,” Kalish said.
Sports betting went live in the Hawkeye State in August and reported $2.2m in revenues in its first month of operation.
