DraftKings launches in-play DFS format
Flash Draft game asks players to pick highest-scoring players in specific NFL halves and quarters

DraftKings has launched a new in-play version of daily fantasy sports the operator has called Flash Draft.
The new product is only available on mobile via the DraftKings app and offers Pick ‘Em-style contests on NFL games for quarters two, three, and four and the second halves.
The format consists of five rounds, with players given 15 seconds to pick from three player options — with no salaries — of who will score the most fantasy points in the next quarter or half.
Drafts start 30 seconds after the previous quarter ends, and everyone drafts at the same time.
Each Flash Draft contest has a guaranteed prize amount and a bonus amount, with bonuses increasing as more people play the contest.

The product marks DraftKing’s first proper foray into in-play DFS and also a continuation of its focus no recreational formats as it seeks to redress the sharks/minnows ecosystem found in traditional salary cap formats.
“Use your football smarts to react to what’s happening on the field,” the firm said in an introductory blog post. “Makes the game — even the time between quarters — more exciting.”
The launch comes with around three weeks until the start of the NFL season and shows the company is still devoting developers to DFS alongside the DK sportsbook.
The operator announced yesterday it was opening two new offices on the West Coast.
