DraftKings partners with GeoComply on Illinois sportsbook expansion
Canada-based geolocation specialist to provide mobile registration services to US heavyweight

GeoComply has launched its PinPoint on-premise monitoring software in Illinois as part of US operator DraftKings’ expansion into the US state.
Under the terms of the partnership, DraftKings has integrated the PinPoint on-premise tool, which utilises Bluetooth beacons and software to ensure compliance with state regulations at its Casino Queen sportsbook.
The tech allows players to register for an account at the DraftKings Casino Queen sportsbook using their own mobile, rather than standing in a line at a registration window. DraftKings has also integrated the PinPoint solution in its Iowa sportsbook venue.
The integration follows the expiration last month of the Illinois governor’s temporary waiver on in-person sports betting registrations due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Now the governor’s waiver has expired, Illinois law requires in-person registration for online sports betting accounts at a player’s preferred casino within the state.
Paul Liberman, DraftKings co-founder and president of global technology and product, cited the effect of integrating the GeoComply software into DraftKings’ back office software and registration process, enabling the firm to comply with state regulations.
“The PinPoint solution really streamlines the process and enables our customers to complete their registration quickly and efficiently on their mobile device, using digital ID verification,” said Liberman.
GeoComply currently supports regulated online casino, poker, sports betting, lottery and DFS operators in 45 US states to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
