DraftKings resumes $250m ESPN ad partnership
Sponsored segments returned on Friday having been suspended earlier in the week
Daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator DraftKings has resumed its $250m marketing partnership with ESPN after it pulled its sponsored in-show segments following the insider trading scandal which hit the firm last week. [private]
ESPN confirmed to Forbes that the sponsored segments were back by Friday last week, having been temporarily pulled the previous Tuesday.
Following the insider trading scandal, which saw a DraftKings employee publish lineup data prior to the start of the game and then going on to win $350,000 on rival site FanDuel, both operators have banned their employees for partaking in real-money contests.
While the intense media scrutiny surrounding the data leak has died down, the wider impact of the scandal has yet to be felt with a number of states, including New York, launching investigations into the sector and both operators.
AÂ class action lawsuit has also been filed against both FanDuel and DraftKings by a disgruntled player from Kentucky, who claims the data leak and employees having access to lineup data brings into question the integrity of the game and the operators themselves.
