Exclusive: Betfred US hires former SG exec as VP of compliance
Cynthia Hays joins the firm’s Las Vegas office to lead regulatory efforts as it expands into new states

Betfred has hired former compliance executive for Scientific Games Cynthia Hays to spearhead its regulatory efforts in the US.
Hays, who specializes in formulating compliance policy, risk mitigation, responsible gaming and regulatory approval, will work from Betfred’s recently established Las Vegas hub, which now houses a workforce of 12 people.
Hays previously spent more than seven years as executive director for global technical operations at WMS Gaming.
When the firm was acquired by Scientific Games in 2013 she took on responsibility for the lottery business’ compliance operations.
Prior to that she was a director for electronic gaming regulatory affairs at Caesars where she oversaw regulatory approval for gaming technology.
She most recently spent more than two years as VP for compliance at Michigan gaming group JACK Entertainment.
Betfred US COO Bryan Bennett told EGR NA Hays brings a wealth of experience in leading compliance organizations in the gaming industry.
“We’re lucky to have her and I look forward to continuing to scale Betfred’s US operations alongside her,” Bennett said.
Betfred launched its betting platform in the US in April last year, marking the UK-based operator’s entry into the States via a market-access deal with Iowa’s Elite Casino Resorts.
It appointed Bennett as COO at its Las Vegas office in November.
