Exclusive: CheckdMedia CEO steps down to spearhead US expansion

The CEO of UK affiliate CheckdMedia is to step down from his current position and take up a new role spearheading the company’s expansion into new international markets such as the US, EGR can reveal.
The Manchester-based firm, which CEO Jamie Knowlson co-founded in 2012 with business partner Lee Struggles, has begun hiring for a new chief executive with Knowlson tasked with leading the business into the US, Africa and other European markets.
“When the business started in 2012, I began my journey as a young 20-year-old and now, eight years down the line, it’s been a fantastic experience as CEO but it’s the right time to find someone new to take us forward,” Knowlson said.
“In the new group structure as co-founders, Lee and l will still be very much involved from a strategic point of view and will have the time to look at what else is on the horizon,” he added.
Knowlson told EGR his new strategic role would primarily be focused on how the Footy Accumulators owner can enter the growing US betting market where affiliates such as Catena Media, Gambling.com Group and Better Collective have been aggressively expanding.
The move follows a number of senior hires at CheckdMedia including the appointment of ex Perform MD Ben Warn as a non-executive director, Alex Beecham as marketing director and Harry Bowden as head of commercial.
The company, which will soon rebrand to CheckdGroup, also recently hired Adam Patton, formerly of sports streaming company DAZN Group and Fantasy iTeam founder, as its new product director.
CheckdMedia came 17th in last year’s EGR Power Affiliates rankings.
