FanDuel to offer mobile racing bets in Massachusetts
Operator to partner with Suffolk Downs racetrack in January despite uncertainty around racing betting in the state

FanDuel will start offering mobile betting on horseracing in Massachusetts as part of a deal with local racetrack Suffolk Downs.
Live races at Suffolk Downs ended in June, but customers can still bet on remote races via simulcasts broadcast at the venue and online via its advanced deposit wagering site.
FanDuel will be ‘piggybacking’ on Suffolk Downs’ existing online business and will enable its DFS users to make pari-mutuel bets.
Racing betting pools will be live on FanDuel’s app in January.
A statement provided to EGR by FanDuel said: “We are excited about the opportunity to introduce FanDuel’s millions of fantasy players to horse racing.
“The decision by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission allows us to further deliver on our promise of giving customers more ways to win and to introduce an advance-deposit wagering product built with the FanDuel fantasy audience in mind,” it continued.
The law for betting on racing in the state will expire in January, although the legislature is expected to approve a second temporary measure to extend the law on betting.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission approved the racetrack’s proposal at a meeting earlier this week.
Real-money sports betting outside of racing is illegal in the state.
