Kambi inks retail sportsbook technology partnership with Great Canadian Entertainment
Multi-year deal will see Kambi supply retail technology to 10 land-based casinos in Ontario

Sportsbook technology supplier Kambi has agreed a multi-year deal to provide technology to Great Canadian Entertainment.
Under the terms of the deal, which applies to 10 of the operator’s Ontario-based casinos, Great Canadian will launch a Kambi-powered sportsbook, including at the newly-launched Pickering Casino Resort.
This will include the provision of betting kiosks together with fully configurable digital signage functionality.
Kambi has said the partnership will have a “small positive” financial impact on its 2022 revenue, widening to a more material revenue impact from 2023.
Kambi CEO and co-founder Kristian Nylén waxed lyrical about the firm’s newest sportsbook partner.
“I am delighted to form this exciting sports betting partnership with Great Canadian, which is rightly regarded as one of Canada’s premier gaming and entertainment companies, with an unrivalled retail footprint,” Nylén said.
“This underlines our position as the leading multi-channel sportsbook provider in North America and we are looking forward to working with the talented team at Great Canadian to deliver a market-leading sportsbook experience for its patrons,” he added.
Great Canadian operates 25 gaming, entertainment and hospitality destinations across Canada, including a dozen casinos in Ontario.
It is owned by global investment firm Apollo Global Management, which bought the firm in September 2021 and is overseen by former Caesars executive Tony Rodio, who joined the firm as part of the transition.
Speaking about the deal, Rodio echoed much of his opposite number’s sentiments.
“The addition of sports betting at 10 of our Ontario-based gaming destinations is an important new amenity, elevating the gaming experience for our guests,” he said.
“As the first company to launch this type of product in Ontario, we are thankful for our partnership with Kambi throughout this new venture as well as the continued support from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and Ontario’s provincial government,” concluded Rodio.
