Super affiliate Catena Media acquires PokerScout.com ahead of the US state’s legalisation of online gambling

Malta-based affiliate Catena Media has taken advantage of the impending legalisation of online gaming in Pennsylvania with the acquisition of US-based online poker news and comparison site, PokerScout.com.
The super affiliate purchased the site for $350k and Catena said it intends to improve the usability and visibility of PokerScout to further the brand’s growth.
“We are proud of the acquisition of PokerScout, which is the leading traffic comparison site for the online poker industry,” said Catena Media CEO Henrik Persson Ekdahl.
“This acquisition is well-timed given that Pennsylvania is set to open their market for online gaming and we hope that more states will follow in Pennsylvania’s footsteps.
“We have been prepared for this for a long time and this is a milestone for our continued expansion in the United States.”
Catena Media already operates multiple media assets in Pennsylvania, as well as New Jersey, and owns several domains tailored to the market in preparation for the proposed legalisation.
Former CEO Robert Andersson told EGR Marketing in October: “Pennsylvania could be a really big deal for us because we have already positioned ourselves with product so that once they open up we will be in the top position.
“A couple of our acquisitions had positioned themselves in Pennsylvania years before we even bought them, so we are all set up and ready to go there.”
The state legalised online gaming last week, with the market expected to open in the middle of 2018.
