MGM continues US sponsorship spree with MLB deal
Operator pledges to use official league data for its PlayMGM betting product

MGM has continued its flurry of betting partnerships with US sports teams and leagues with the announcement of a new deal with Major League Baseball (MLB).
Under the agreement, MGM Resorts is named as the first-ever official gaming partner of MLB and an official entertainment partner of the league.
Under the gaming partner tag, MGM will use MLB’s official statistics feed on a non-exclusive basis, while the league will also provide “enhanced statistics” to MGM on an exclusive basis.
MGM CEO Jim Murren said the deal would benefit the casino operator’s online gambling JV with GVC and create a “one-of-a-kind” experience for baseball fans.
“Combining MGM Resorts’ world class entertainment and technology with MLB data will continue to transform a rapidly changing industry,” Murren added.
“This partnership further amplifies the significance of our GVC JV, firmly establishing MGM Resorts and playMGM as the market leader in partnerships with major professional sports leagues.”
MGM, and by extension GVC, has already announced similar deal with the NHL and NBAand has a partnership in place with the NFL’s New York Jets.
As an official sponsor of MLN, MGM will promote its brand and gaming options across MLB’s digital and broadcast platforms, including MLB Network, MLB.com, and the MLB At Bat app.
The casino operator said it will also secure “multiple” partnerships with individual MLB clubs.
Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred added: “Our partnership with MGM will help us navigate this evolving space responsibly, and we look forward to the fan engagement opportunities ahead.”
