Michigan Senate passes latest betting and gaming bills
Governor Gretchen Whitmer likely to pass latest round of bills including 8.4% tax rate and $100,000 license fee

The Michigan Senate has passed House representative Brandt Iden’s latest round of betting and gaming bills in the state.
Amendments included one-off application fees of $50,000, and license fees of $100,000 and $50,000 every year after.
Betting tax has been capped at 8.4% of GGR with an additional 1.25% city tax to Detroit-based casinos.
In-play bets must use official data, and operators can use more than one betting platform.
The bills still require a final sign-off from Governor Gretchen Whitmer, although it has been suggested that Whitmer is pleased with the changes and will likely support the bill.
Igaming, including poker, slots and blackjack is also included in the latest host of bills.
The state had passed two previous betting bills but faced push-back from the Governor over tax rates and the impact betting could have on the state lottery.
