Mohegan Sun New Jersey launch nears
Resorts Casino plans to launch a Mohegan Sun branded skin in the state by the end of summer, expects it to take significant market share away from the Borgata
The Resorts Casino in New Jersey is planning to launch a Mohegan Sun branded skin to players in the state by the end of the summer, eGR North America can exclusively reveal. [private]
Having launched its ResortsCasino.com site in February, the operator is keen to bring its second brand to market and believes it has a âhigher awareness factorâ than the Borgata.
âWe have done a number of surveys and we have found that in terms of awareness, Mohegan Sun has a higher awareness factor in the New Jersey area than Borgata and some of the other big properties here,â Resorts director of interactive marketing, Lee Terfloth, told eGR NA.
âWe think Mohegan Sun is going to be competing at the same level as Borgata, Tropicana, Golden Nugget or higher.
âWe want to be number one and we have two exceptional brands that we feel will be competing for the top spots in New Jersey,â he added.
It is thought Connecticut-based Mohegan Sun will use the same SNG Interactive platform as ResortsCasino.com, and will become the second site to run off the operatorâs interactive wagering permit.
Resorts also has a deal with Amaya Gaming to launch PokerStars and Full Tilt branded sites in New Jersey, pending regulatory approval.
Terfloth recently told eGR NA that Resorts is âfully committedâ to its partnership with PokerStars and Full Tilt, and had âno plan Bâ for is they werenât given the green light from the regulator.
But that decision now seems to be a case of when rather than after the director of the stateâs Division of Gaming Enforcement told eGR NA he was âdoing to get this [PokerStarsâ approval] done.â
