Monmouth Park launches fantasy sports site
New Jersey racetrack enters the fray, Massachusetts State Lottery also looking to get in on the action  Â
New Jersey racecourse Monmouth Park has launched its own real-money fantasy sports site offering daily, weekly and season long contests. [private]
The site, mpscoreattheshore.com, is powered by Star Fantasy Leagues with game statistics provided by STATS.
âThis has been many months in the making,â said Bill Knauf, vice president of business operations for the racetrack.
âWe are pleased to partner with Star Fantasy Leagues as we continue our goal of an increased gaming and entertainment presence in New Jersey,â he added.
Monmouth Park announced plans to enter the fantasy sports sector after New Jersey appeared to lose its battle with the major sports leagues in its bid to allow licensed tracks and casinos to accept sports wagers.
But months later the Third Circuit Court of Appeal agreed to review the case, with a decision expected sometime next month.
The launch comes after news that the Massachusetts State Lottery has issued a request for proposals (RFP) as it looks to branch out into online gaming, including fantasy sports and social casino.
The RFP follows Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey revealing a number of daily fantasy sports regulations aimed at better protecting players.
