New Jersey posts record online gaming win in July

Online casino jumps 44% while poker continues to underwhelm
New Jerseyâs five online gaming operators posted a record win of $17.4m in July on the strength of a booming casino vertical.
Total online revenues were up 39% year-on-year and 6% sequentially, surpassing the $17m record set back in April.
Online casino did the heavy lifting, with revenues up 44% year-on-year to $15.4m while poker gained just under 7% to $2m.
The single digit growth for poker was lower than expected given the addition of PokerStars to the market and the fact that July 2016 had an extra weekend compared to 2015.
For the year-to-date, overall online revenues are up 33% to $112.2m, with poker growing by 11% and casino up 37% to $96.4m.
The Borgata and its GVC-powered sites continued to lead the New Jersey market with just under $4m in combined poker and casino revenues.
However the biggest gainer in July was the Golden Nugget and its Betfair casino, which grew 36% year-on-year to $3.7m following a TV ad campaign in the state.
Caesars Interactive with its NYX platform was also up 27% year-on-year, ranking third in the market.
The Tropicana and its Gamesys casino platform grew 19% year-on-year but was the only operator to see online casino revenue decline on a sequential basis, as it lost 3% compared to June.
On poker, Resorts/PokerStars continued to lose market share to Caesars/888 and Borgata/Partpoker, as it slipped back 3% sequentially. The combo continued to lead the market with a 40% share compared to 31% for Caesars and 29% for Party.
