Penn National and Parx eye New Jersey betting licenses
PA casino operators expect to be licensed through their co-ownership of the New Jersey race track Freehold Raceway

New Jersey could be in line for two new sports betting brands in 2019, in the form of Penn National and Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment (GGE), the operator of Parx Casino
The two companies confirmed they expect to be licensed through their co-ownership of the Freehold Raceway in Northern New Jersey.
The news was first reported by Fantini Gaming research, who said negotiations for the online skins and a retail sportsbook underway and expected to be concluded before the end of the year,
“The licensing process and plans for the retail sports book still need to be completed,” Fantini said, adding: “Freehold would most directly compete with Monmouth Park less than 20 miles away.”
Monmouth Park currently houses a William Hill sportsbook.
The forthcoming GGE sportsbook launch is expected to be powered by DraftKings provider Kambi.
Kambi has an existing deal with Parx in Pennsylvania, and the two firms said in a press release last month: “The contract … includes a provision for Kambi to support Greenwood Gaming with a potential sports betting operation in the neighboring state of New Jersey.”
Penn National has partnered with William Hill in PA.
Penn and GGE would be the second and third Pennsylvania firms to get into the New Jersey betting business, following SugarHouse.
