Pennsylvania casino operator launches New Jersey online casino

Playsugarhouse.com already live on Golden Nuggets internet gaming permit
Â
The operator of Philadelphiaâs SugarHouse casino has launched a real money online casino into the New Jersey market.
The new site, playsugarhouse.com, is active on the Golden Nuggetâs online license and built on a proprietary platform developed by Rush Street Interactive, the online gaming division of Rush Street Gaming, which operates the SugarHouse Casino
âWe have high expectations for the SugarHouse brand in New Jersey,â said Richard Schwartz, the CEO of Rush Street Interactive.
âTo date, the land based Atlantic City casino brands have performed better than the European online brands in NJ. In addition, the SugarHouse casino, while located in Philadelphia, is still very close to a significant number of NJ residents.
âRush Street Interactive is a separate business from our brick and mortar casinos but our goal is to leverage online and offline (land-based) assets effectively. We view online and offline as separate but complimentary businesses,â Schwartz added.
Rush Street Interactive was deemed eligible for an internet gambling transactional waiver from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) in November 2013, but the company said it spent the interim period assessing the NJ online casino market and developing a proprietary igaming platform.
âThe fact that the online casino market in New Jersey has grown 37% year-to-date so far this year, compared to last year, confirmed that the timing was right for our entry,â Schwartz said.
While the new site is only available for New Jersey residents, it will give Rush Street Interactive invaluable digital experience, with Pennsylvania expected to regulate real money gaming in 2017.
