PointsBet hires former XFL and ESPN media executive
Len Mead will lead the operator’s content efforts across its media and sports partnerships

PointsBet has appointed former XFL VP for broadcasting and media partnerships Len Mead as it ramps up recruitment across a number of states.
Mead will act as VP of content after spending nine months delivering the XFL’s integrations around betting.
He has also led sports programming strategy and negotiations at NBC Sports, ESPN and the New England Sports Network.
Mead helped launch NBC Sports’ first regional direct-to-consumer service, Blazers Pass. He also played a hand in developing ESPN’s live digital sports platform ESPN3 and its Megacast product.
Mead said: “I’m thrilled to join PointsBet and be able to contribute to their impressive and innovative approach toward the US sports betting market.
“Their product is best in brand, and I welcome this unique opportunity to create content that will help expand PointsBet visibility, awareness and trust while working with the team’s deep list of partners to grow PointsBet to the next level,” he added.
Rick Martira, PointsBet CMO, said: “Len’s tremendous work ethic, ability, and experience, as well as his understanding of the media landscape and how to authentically capitalize on the growth of sports betting, will be extremely valuable as we continue to build the PointsBet brand and expand across the United States.”
The firm is in the process of hiring across multiple departments and states, including in Illinois where it went live with betting in September.
