PointsBet inks NBA betting deal
Partnership marks Australian firm’s first with a US sports league

Australian sportsbook operator PointsBet has secured a multi-year partnership with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in a deal which sees PointsBet become an authorised sports betting operator of the NBA.
Under the remit of the partnership, PointsBet will provide the NBA with its first-ever ‘Win Probability Metric’ across various NBA platforms, including NBA.com and NBA social media channels.
The ‘Win Probability Metric’ will provide fans with real-time data and insight that is used on PointsBet’s sportsbook to project match outcomes.
Another caveat within the partnership is that PointsBet will be afforded access to official NBA betting data and league marks across PointsBet digital betting platforms.
The deal marks PointsBet’s first with a professional sports league in the US while the NBA now lays claim to 11 authorised betting and gaming partners.
Johnny Aitken, CEO of PointsBet USA, said: “As a tech company at heart, the PointsBet team is excited to work with a league as savvy and forward-thinking as the NBA.
“We’re certainly aligned in looking to present fans with the best experience possible, and we look forward to enhancing the sports betting aspect via the Win Probability Metric powered by PointsBet.”
Scott Kaufman-Ross, SVP and head of fantasy and gaming at the NBA, added: “We are thrilled to partner with PointsBet on its first US sports league betting partnership as they continue to grow their business throughout the US.
“PointsBet has a unique offering in the marketplace and we are excited to find new ways to engage with fans together.”
Elsewhere, PointsBet recently took steps to streamline its UI by shifting its mobile app technology onto a single codebase.
