William Hill signs first post-PASPA sports team partnership
Operator to become the exclusive sportsbook partner of MLS side Las Vegas Lights
William Hill US has announced the signing of a deal to become the exclusive sportsbook partner of MLS side Las Vegas Lights FC.
The partnership will see William Hill promote the club via its mobile app, and will give players multiple ways to bet on Lights FC matches including live in-play odds. All fans who register for a new William Hill account using the promo code “LIGHTS” will receive a $5 free bet.
William Hill US CEO, Joe Asher, said “We are excited to partner with Lights FC. Las Vegas is truly a sports destination, and the Lights FC have been a great addition to the city. We look forward to seeing their continued success both on and off the field.”
Lights FC Owner & CEO Brett Lashbrook added: “William Hill is an ideal partner for a pro sports team in Las Vegas, Thank you, William Hill, for being trailblazers!”
The agreement is the first one signed between a sports team and a bookmaker in the US following the repeal of PASPA, and could be a sign of things to come, with Asher telling Reuters this week that William Hill has been “inundated” with business offers from teams.
“The leagues and the teams are interested in doing commercial deals,” Asher said.
Hills yesterday took the first legal bet in New Jersey via its sportsbook at Monmouth Park racetrack.
