Former Kambi duo launch horseracing-focused betting site
Dave Gowers and Craig Nicholson's Black Type website is powered by sports betting supplier FSB Technology

Former Kambi employees Dave Gowers and Craig Nicholson have launched a new horseracing-focused betting site in partnership with sportsbook supplier FSB Technology.
BlackType.bet was officially launched yesterday and is the brainchild of the former Kambi duo along with Mylo Sangster, the grandson of racehorse owner and breeder Robert Sangster.
The website, which is already featured on the Oddschecker grid, is backed by a social media presence across Facebook and Twitter, and in addition to racing, offers markets on football and tennis.
Powered by FSB, Black Type allows certain sports markets to be controlled by its own in-house trading team while others are managed by FSB’s London-based traders.
And according to the founders, the site prides itself on offering competitive odds, consistently low racing margins and for not closing the accounts of winners.
“Having witnessed the evolution of the industry over the past twenty years, the UK market in particular has lacked a quality horse racing-focused sportsbook for a considerable time, and there is very little competition for the established, bigger operators,” BlackType.bet founder, Craig Nicholson said.
“We wanted to draw on our knowledge and racing heritage to put that right, but most importantly we wanted to offer a very competitively-priced service while also being seen to lay a fair bet. We’re called Black Type for a reason.”
Black Type is the latest online bookmaker to be launched in partnership with FSB Technology this year, following the launch of 21Bet in March.
FSB Technology’s business development director, Richard Thorp, said: “It is a feather in our cap that traders with a specialist knowledge of all the managed sportsbook options on the market chose FSB over some of our competitors.
“We’re very confident that our offering is sufficiently flexible to combine the best CRM tools with specialist trading knowledge to deliver a compelling product that will excite customers and plug a gap in the market.”
