Betfred aims high with mobile poker launch
Operator releases new mobile and tablet poker products with additional features and advertising campaign to follow
Betfred has set its sights on becoming “one of the top poker sites” after launching its first mobile and tablet-optimised poker products, becoming the fifth operator on Playtech’s iPoker network to do so.
The operator began working on the products several months ago, collaborating with Playtech’s mobile development team and Betfred’s own mobile development agency Degree 53.
Speaking to eGaming Review this morning Ben Clark, head of poker at Betfred, said the initial launch was on mobile web and iOS app, and revealed additions to the software are in the pipeline to differentiate it from other iPoker licensees, such as bet365, Ladbrokes and Betclic Everest.
“We’re looking to really branch out on to as many platforms as possible,” Clark said. “We have a big focus on what our players want and will be bringing this to the fold on future platforms such as native apps, HTML5 tablet apps and others.”
While the iOS-optimised product has been launched first, an Android product is due to be released next month with a dedicated tablet app set to be unveiled in August, while tournament and side games are due to be added in the coming months.
The release will also be advertised in a television campaign starting on 1 May which will also feature the new Betfred brand.
Betfred has been placed into iPoker’s top tier, which Clark said would provide a “massive, massive boost” for its liquidity and would provide them with a much bigger say in Playtech’s own product roadmaps. “Sitting in the bottom tier we didn’t have that transparency or visibility,” Clark said.
