Hippodrome launches online casino
Online offering goes live with Microgaming slots and table games " PokerStars product to follow on 4 March.

The Hippodrome Casino has launched its Microgaming-built and Betway Group-operated online casino, hosting more than 450 slots and table games.
Hippodrome director of online operations George Constantinou (pictured) told eGR that PokerStars’ online poker offering will go live on 4 March, the same date that PokerStars Live, set to be the UK’s first bricks-and-mortar PokerStars room, will open in the London-based casino, after the Isle of Man licensed operator took a minority stake in the property last October.
He added that the mobile offering will be available in the Apple App Store and Android Google Play store within two weeks, with the app optimised for both smartphones and tablets.
Constantinou said in a statement: “We have put a huge amount of effort into creating a true synergy between the clubhouse and our online offer, including the breadth of gaming available and the look and feel of the site. We have even incorporated photography of the Hippodrome itself so players can recognise rooms and locations throughout the venue.”
Constantinou was appointed to oversee the launch in December last year and was previously behind the UK launch of Pokerroom.com, which was shut down this week by bwin.party just one year after being reintroduced to the market after nearly three inactive years.
The Hippodrome, which opened in July last year, previously agreed a joint venture with Purple Lounge in advance of the opening. This was intended to cover both online casino and poker offerings, however after an initial delay the deal was impacted by the liquidation of the Media Corporation subsidiary last summer.
