Lads overhauls external legal counsel
Operator cuts legal panel from 50 to 22 firms including Harris Hagan, Olswang and DLA Piper.
Ladbrokes has overhauled its external legal counsel, cutting the number of advisers on its roster and appointing several gaming specialists.
According to Legal Week the recent review led by the operator’s general counsel Jonathan Adelman reduces the number of firms on the legal roster from 50 to 22, and sees Slaughter and May, SJ Berwin, Clyde & Co and South West firm Trethowans appointed for the first time.
Lads also appointed eight firms to cover a wide range of legal work, while 10 other firms have been appointed for specific areas, including gaming specialists Harris Hagan, Olswang and DLA Piper.
“There’s a mix of firms on here who have been long-term supporters, and those who have really impressed us,” Adelman told Legal Week.
“We had a stated and strong desire to work with firms that would be truly dedicated to Ladbrokes. The process was not about hammering down hourly rates; we wanted a longer-term, more holistic approach to deliver long-term value and savings.”
Earlier this week Ladbrokes’ former director of ecommerce and mobile Paul Witten announced he is joining Tipp24 as managing director and head of business development for the operator’s UK subsidiary.
