Microgaming unveils "revolutionary" Babelfish poker API
Egaming supplier debuts new customisable client interface and reveals one major operator is due to launch in the next few weeks

Microgaming has launched a new API enabling operators to develop a customisable online poker client on the egaming supplier’s MPN network.
The Babelfish technology features tools for developing a multi-language poker product across all platforms, while also providing access to the network’s cash games and tournament liquidity pools.
Microgaming has signed up one as-yet unnamed operator which will launch a customised client on the MPN in the coming weeks and will “grow the network significantly”, according to head of poker at Microgaming Alex Scott.
Scott said he was confident the technology would prove a “game changer” for the online poker sector.
“It allows operators to customise their poker software to a higher degree than has ever been possible before, without having to go standalone,” he said.
“Furthermore, it allows them to do this without having to worry about expensive hosting costs, random number generators, or any of the other complexities that come with developing server software,” Scott added.
News of the launch follows concerns over the long-term viability of poker networks and notable departures from the MPN in recent years, with Unibet having left to launch a Relax Gaming-powered standalone poker product.
Notable poker rooms live on the MPN currently include BetVictor, Betway, PAF, 32Red, Betsson and Stan James.
According to rankings site PokerScout, the MPN recorded a peak of 1,208 cash players over the last 24 hours and a seven-day average of 650, placing it 14th in the global rankings.
