Paddys launches camera-activated Premier League app
Users retrieve live odds by pointing iPhone camera at a televised match.

Paddy Power has announced the launch of its new Premier League app which allows its users to see live odds of a match they are watching on television by pointing an iPhone camera at the screen.
The free app, which can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store, also offers other Paddys promotions, match statistics and the ability to add match times to the iPhone calendar.
Sylvie McDermott, sportsbook mobile manager for Paddy Power, said of the launch: “We are confident punters will embrace this completely new and fun way to get the latest Paddy Power odds. All you need to do is point the camera of your iPhone at a TV and the app will recognise which match you’re watching and display real-time odds.”
The Irish bookmaker courted controversy with an app designed by Blippar for the Euro 2012 football championships this summer which featured an animated head representing the Queen offering betting tips. The app had to be withdrawn after it emerged that Paddys had not applied for permission to use images of the Queen on the banknotes, in breach of the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act 1981.
Last month, Paddys became the first operator to launch Playtech’s mobile bingo app.
