PMU launches iOS sportsbook
Mobile currently contributing 17% of amounts staked online " launch follows ARJEL approving PMU's mobile betting software in January 2012.

Former French monopoly operator Pari-Mutuel Urbain has announced the launch of an iPhone- and iPad-optimised sportsbook, PMU Sport.
The app, which is available now to French punters, features a customisable newsfeed allowing users to track odds offered on their favourite teams and sports personalities and offers in-play odds, which accounts for 52% of bets placed with the operator.
“Mobile and new consumption patterns have always been at the heart our discussions for improving PMU. Our applications have been downloaded more than 500,000 times, which already generates 17% of amounts staked in sports and is used by 32% of our active players,” PMU’s marketing director Cyrille Giraudat explained.
“This second sportsbook app allows us to take a new direction and accommodates changes in the way players bet,” Giraudat added.
The launch follows PMU receiving approval for mobile betting software from French regulator L’Authorité de reglementations des jeux en ligne (ARJEL) in January last year. The operator continues to perform strongly in the much-criticised French egaming sector, with online contributing 15.6% to total group revenues.
