Trinity Mirror and Paddys to launch sports betting app
Media giant prepares to launch new football-focused sports betting product which will integrate Irish bookies' platform

Paddy Power has entered into an exclusive deal with UK media giant Trinity Mirror in a move which has seen the pair combine for a new football-focused sports betting app, eGaming Review can exclusively reveal.
The app, which will be available on both iOS and Android, will focus on the casual punter and is to be released imminently with the product this morning submitted to the Apple Store for final verification.
It is understood that the deal between Paddys and Trinity Mirror is not a white-labelling agreement, with the operator’s branding expected to be present throughout the Mirror-titled product. As such, all customers will be aware that all bets placed via the app will be made with the Irish operator.
According to eGR sources, the app will see Trinity Mirror, publisher of newspapers the Daily Mirror and the Sunday People, leverage its extensive sports content in order to provide users with a more rounded sports betting experience.
As well as additional editorial content, the app will also provide bettors with complementary sports betting focused information such as team line-ups, statistics and live streaming.
The project is believed to be headed-up by former Boylesports online platform and product manager Conor Durnin, who joined Trinity Mirror as technical project manager last summer.
The move follows similar projects from UK media titles such as the Guardian and the Sun, both of whom have made recent moves to enter the sports betting market ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
Earlier this month, the Mirror teamed-up with the Racing Post to launch horse-racing focused affiliates site Mirror Free Bets, a move which sparked speculation it could be about to enter the sportsbook market.
Trinity Mirror and Paddy Power declined to comment at time of publication.
