Bodog88 in ONEworks-powered mobile launch
Asian-facing operator will offer a sports-betting interface for smartphones and WAP.

Philippines-based Bodog brand licensee Bodog88 has launched its mobile sportsbook offering for smartphone and WAP formats.
Powered by ONEworks, the offering is hoped to make the most of the continued use of WAP in Asia, where it accounts for 70% of bets placed despite being considered by some in Europe and North America to be outdated.
Bodog88 managing director Robert Gustafsson said: “The strength of WAP in Asia surprises everybody, myself included, but as a result it made sense to wait until we could have both versions up and running before we launched our full mobile service.
“The growth in mobile is well-documented and showing no signs of slowing but having both the WAP and Smartphone options should give us a competitive advantage as well as, obviously, widen the accessibility of the brand in Asia,” he added.
The launch is the first from the operator since bwin veteran Torbjorn Wallin was brought in as chief digital marketing officer for Bodog Asia, with particular responsibility for the Bodog88 brand.
ONEworks head of business development Tom Hall said of the mobile launch: “We know how vitally important mobile is for our sportsbook clients, and I am certain this will help Bodog gain even greater market share through our enhanced mobile offering, increasingly the ‘channel of choice’ amongst in-play sports-betting customers.”
Bodog88 launched in Vietnam last year, with a Vietnamese-language sports and casino offering complemented by poker towards the end of 2012.
Its poker offering sits on the Bodog Poker Network, which last month announced the launch of its Anonymous Poker Series, set to comprise live and online events.
