Colossus Bets brings tech in-house for website overhaul
Pools betting operator launches proprietary platform as it readies new free-to-play jackpot product

Colossus Bets has ended its partnership with platform provider i-Neda after developing its first in-house built website, as the pools betting operator also prepares to launch a new free-to-play product.
The London-based firm overhauled its desktop and mobile website to coincide with the start of the new football season and features a complete redesign and the integration of more technically complex but player-friendly consolation prizes, adding to its partial cash-out feature.
Approximately 10 new members of staff were hired to help build the website after Colossus Bets decided a propriety product would be more economically efficient than a third-party and speed-up future product developments.
“We made the website more friendly, fun, gave it a softer interface, integrated consolation prizes and we migrated all our existing partners from old microsites built by the external provider to us internally,” Bernard Marantelli, Colossus Bets CEO, told eGaming Review.
“It’s also mobile-led which is important because 80% of our client base is mobile in terms of users, although the remaining 20% of online players are usually the heavier users,” he added.
Marantelli also revealed Colossus Bets plans to launch its first free-to-play product by early October as it looks to rival Sky’s industry-leading equivalent.
The Colossus Bets free-to-play jackpot will feature a £500,000 win guarantee, compared to £250,000 offered by Sky’s Soccer Saturday Super 6, as well as a £500,000 bonus leg and the option for players to cash-out for real money.
“The free-to-play game will physically feed into the cash game which means we basically underwrite their ticket purchase,” Marantelli said.
“We’re going to try to cross-sell customers into the cash game as well, in a similar way to how the phenomenally popular Sky Super 6 offers players a bet after they’ve played their free-to-play game. We also think the addition of a partial cash-out component to the game will create a new level of stickiness and engagement for free-to-play users”, he added.
Colossus Bets is expected to announce a number of new pools betting platform partnerships with several major operators over the coming months following recent deals with Betfair and Ladbrokes Australia.
